The services offered by Mediphone Assist

Mediphone Assist supports you with both unexpected and planned medical care abroad.

During your stay abroad, you receive:

• immediate assistance in your own language
• expert medical advice
• all necessary documents and any medication sent quickly
• repatriation for medical reasons or in the event of death (under certain conditions)
• information such as nearby doctors or pharmacists who speak a language you understand

Are you continuing kidney dialysis, oxygen therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy abroad? Contact Mediphone Assist one month before your departure. Provide the name of the healthcare institution and your treatment period abroad.

Terms and conditions

Travelling abroad with peace of mind? Check whether you meet all the conditions to be reimbursed for any medical expenses.

• Before your departure, make sure your health insurance contributions for the current quarter have been paid.
• Does the FPS Foreign Affairs issue a negative travel advice for your destination? Then no coverage is provided.
• You must inform Mediphone Assist within 48 hours in the event of an urgent hospital admission.
• Mediphone Assist only covers medical expenses and repatriation of the patient. Lost luggage, car breakdowns, repatriation of the car, etc. are not included in the travel assistance.
• Medical treatment in the destination country may not be the main purpose or secondary purpose of your trip.
• You can rely on reliable assistance for urgent hospital admissions and outpatient costs abroad related to dialysis, oxygen therapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Reimbursements apply per stay for 3 months from the first medical treatment.
• Are you staying abroad as a student in an EU country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland? Then your expenses are covered for 12 months.

Which countries are covered?

Mediphone Assist provides assistance in member states of the European Economic Area (EEA), countries associated with an EEA country, and countries in the Mediterranean region.

This only concerns urgent and necessary medical expenses during a stay in:

• All EEA countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
• Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Hebrides, Israel, Jordan, Channel Islands (Alderney, Guernsey, Herm, Jersey, Sark), Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, North Macedonia, Isle of Man, Morocco, Monaco, Montenegro, Orkney Islands, Palestine, San Marino, Scilly Islands, Serbia, Shetland Islands, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, Vatican City, United Kingdom, Isle of Wight, Switzerland.

If you are travelling to another country, it is recommended to take out additional travel assistance insurance with an insurance company.
