Extra support for you and your loved ones

If you are less mobile, finding it harder to manage household tasks, or in need of extra personal care, Helan Home Care is here to lend a helping hand.

What is home care?

A professional caregiver comes to your home and supports you with personal care, administrative and household tasks, such as:

  • personal hygiene
  • emotional support, companionship and a listening ear
  • support with administrative tasks
  • preparing and serving meals
  • grocery shopping
  • washing, ironing and small sewing jobs
  • light household tasks
  • where needed, simple home maintenance tasks

Why home care?

Our caregivers work on a goal-oriented care basis. They listen to you and support you in strengthening your independence. Whether that involves personal care, help with administrative tasks or grocery shopping, or preparing meals. You decide.

That way, we help you continue living comfortably in your familiar home environment.

How much does home care cost?

With home care, you pay a user contribution per hour, and the government pays the rest. How much you pay depends on your family income and the number of dependents you have. A home care service employee will assess your situation and calculate your contribution based on the official grading system used by the Department of Care.

If you choose to get help in the evenings and at weekend too, you pay a supplement on top of your hourly contribution. Feel free to contact us for a free quote.

Practical questions

Our caregivers are available quickly. How quickly depends on the region where you live. The regional coordinator will schedule a home visit before the actual care starts, in order to better understand your care needs. Together, you agree on when the care will start.

Suddenly need urgent care? In unforeseen emergency situations, we can temporarily start acute home care for a short period without a home visit. That way, you get the need quickly, even in an unexpected situation.

With home care, a caregiver supports you with your daily activities, such as household tasks, grocery shopping or preparing meals. Household help focuses on home maintenance tasks.

When possible (by car or within walking distance), you are welcome to come along for grocery shopping.

If you need support from your caregiver, they can drive you to the hospital.

Your caregiver can carry out light household tasks. We ask that this is limited to a maximum of one quarter of the total time they spend with you.

The caregiver is there for you and your household. If you're just heading out for a minute while your caregiver is there, that's no problem. If you're going to be away for longer, please cancel your appointment in good time.

During the home visit, the regional coordinator will always leave their contact details. You can also contact our Home Care service on 09 269 85 90, between 8:00 and 17:00 every working day, and between 13:00 and 16:00 on Fridays.

We appreciate it if you could let us know you're away in good time (at least 2 working days in advance). You can cancel your care up to 15:00 on the last working day before your scheduled care. For later cancellations, a fee will be charged, unless you can demonstrate a case of force majeure (for example an emergency hospital admission or an accident).

We strongly encourage payment by direct debit. It’s also the easiest option for you.

Depending on your care needs and preferences, we work together to create a flexible care schedule. Our caregivers usually visit in blocks of at least 2 hours.

Home nursing is there for you when you need medical care. You may need it after surgery, for example, after an accident while you are recovering at home, or when you are chronically or long-term ill. A nurse visits you at home and can provide specialist medical care, such as giving injections, caring for a wound or a stoma, or offering advice for diabetes. Whatever your situation, home nursing provides medical care tailored to your needs.

Home care offers extra support in those same care situations. This support is non-medical. A caregiver visits you at home to help with personal hygiene, grocery shopping or preparing meals, administrative tasks, or keeping your household running smoothly.

Helan can arrange both services for you. Not sure exactly what you need? Feel free to contact us and we’ll gladly guide you towards the right support for your situation. Call us on 02 218 22 22, or complete the online application form and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
