Our history
Helan was created through a merger of the former independent health insurance funds OZ and Partena. Partena was founded in 1995 and grew through mergers with Euromut (2014) and Securex (2017). OZ was established in 2001 following the merger of the Flemish Independent Health Insurance Fund Bruges and the Independent Health Insurance Fund Antwerp.
Since 1 January 2022, both organisations have continued under the name Helan, becoming the largest independent health insurance fund in Flanders.
Today, Helan is much more than just a health insurance fund. As a wellbeing group, we support our customers with a wide range of services and expertise that enhance their wellbeing. With a team of over 6,500 employees, we help create greater wellbeing for our 1 million customers.
