Personal budget for people with care needs (PVB)
Adults who need intensive care can receive a PVB (personal budget for people with care needs) from the Flemish Agency for Persons with Disabilities (VAPH). Our Social Work department will gladly help you with your application.
What is the personal budget for people with care needs?
The personal budget for people with care needs is financial support for adults with a disability who need intensive care. The amount ranges from €10,000 to €85,000 per year, depending on your care needs.
You can spend the personal budget for people with care needs in different ways:
- cash
- with vouchers at care providers recognised by the VAPH
- or a combination of both
Some conditions
Want to know if you are eligible for a personal budget for people with care needs? You must meet these conditions:
- You are between 17 and 65 years old.
- You need intensive or frequent support due to a disability.
- You live in Flanders or in the Brussels-Capital Region.

Complete your personal budget support plan and submit it to the VAPH. You can find more information here.
Once the support plan has been approved by the VAPH, a multidisciplinary report needs to be prepared. Our social worker can draw up this report and will then continue handling your application with the VAPH.
After this, your application and possible recognition will be handled by the Flemish Assessment Committee. They decide on your recognition as a person with a disability and assign a specific priority to your request.
