Which tasks are included in a cleaning help's task list?

Our cleaning help can do a lot, but not every task can simply be carried out. Some tasks are unsafe, legally prohibited or harmful to health. Helan has listed them clearly for you, so you know exactly which tasks you can ask your cleaning help to take on.

Which tasks is a cleaning help allowed to carry out?

Please note: your household help may only carry out the following tasks in the private part of your home, and not in a professional setting such as a doctor’s practice.

  • Vacuuming
  • Mopping
  • Cooking
  • Sewing
  • Ironing
  • Dusting
  • Window cleaning
  • Preparing meals
  • Cleaning windows and shutters
  • Cleaning the terrace
  • Light shopping, on foot or by bike, within a maximum radius of 2 kilometres from your home

Which tasks is a cleaning help not allowed to carry out?

These tasks are unsafe, harmful to health or legally prohibited. This helps prevent physical strain for our household help and ensures you can continue to rely on an extra pair of hands.

  • Cleaning communal stairwells
  • Cleaning professional premises such as a doctor’s practice or shop
  • Childcare or looking after children
  • Caring for pets or cleaning a litter tray or dog kennel
  • Odd jobs and garden maintenance
  • Working on a high ladder, for example to clean windows. A stable stepladder is allowed
  • Products containing ammonia or chlorine, such as bleach, may not be used
  • Outdoor work in unsuitable weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain or snow
  • Working in slippers or socks is not allowed, as this increases the risk of slipping accidents
  • Moving heavy furniture, rubbish bags or carpets

Frequently asked questions

...

Your cleaning help will indicate that this task is not part of their responsibilities. If you would like clarification about whether a specific task can or cannot be carried out, you can always contact your Helan consultant.

No, you are not allowed to have your Helan cleaning help work at someone else’s home. The rules around service vouchers are very strict:

  • Your cleaning help is linked to your home address.
  • Your cleaning help is insured to work at your location only.

If you do this anyway and an accident happens, neither you nor your cleaning help will be insured. In addition, both the customer and the cleaning help may face sanctions.

Your schedule, always at hand.

We take some of the work off your hands.

Our well-trained household helpers already support 41.512 customers. Will you be next? You pay quickly and easily with service vouchers. Are you also a customer of Helan Health Insurance? Then Helan covers the customer contribution for you.
