Will I have to pay a deductible in the event of a hospital admission?
Some insurance companies apply a deductible in the event of a claim. Find out exactly what this means here.
What is a deductible?
A deductible is also known as an 'excess' in the insurance world. This is the part of the claim that you have to pay yourself, even though you have insurance for that claim. The deductible can be a fixed amount or a percentage, depending on which type of insurance you have.
Will I have to pay a deductible in the event of a hospital admission?
Do you have hospitalisation insurance through Helan? Then you won't have to pay a deductible in the event of hospitalisation.
Exceptions include: UZ Gent and several other hospitals in Brussels and Wallonia that charge especially high rates. For an admission in a single room at one of these hospitals, a deductible of €150 is charged to the patient. For an admission in a multiple occupancy room in these hospitals, there is never a deductible.
Have a look at list of the more expensive hospitals to check your rate.
